UAE Work Visa 2026: Complete Step-by-Step Guide for Bangladeshis

July 16, 2026 by ejobscircular

The United Arab Emirates — Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman — is home to more than 700,000 Bangladeshi workers. It is one of the most desirable destinations for Bangladeshi professionals and labourers alike, because of the relatively high wages, modern infrastructure, and the absence of personal income tax. But getting a UAE work visa in 2026 requires understanding a process that has changed significantly in recent years. This guide walks you through everything.

UAE Work Visa Types Available to Bangladeshis

The most common visa for Bangladeshis going to work in the UAE is the Employment Visa, issued under the sponsorship of a UAE employer. Under the UAE’s employment visa system, your sponsor (kafeel) is your employer — they apply for your visa, pay the related fees, and you are legally permitted to work only for them (though job-change rules have been relaxed significantly since 2022).

The UAE introduced several new visa categories in 2022 that are worth knowing about. The Green Visa allows skilled workers and freelancers to sponsor themselves without a UAE employer — you apply independently, and if approved, you can live and work in the UAE for 5 years and seek employment on your own. The Golden Visa is a 10-year residency visa for investors, entrepreneurs, scientists, and outstanding talents. These are not available to most entry-level workers, but if you have specialized skills or investment capital, they are worth researching on the ICP website (icp.gov.ae).

For most Bangladeshis, the standard employment visa remains the practical route. Understanding exactly how this process works will save you time, money, and the frustration of dealing with incompetent agents.

The UAE Work Visa Process — From Offer to Entry Permit

The process begins with a confirmed job offer from a UAE-registered company. Your employer must apply through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) for an employment entry permit (ইন্ট্রি পারমিট) in your name. This permit is an electronic document that the employer generates and sends to you. Without this, there is nothing to proceed with.

Once you receive the entry permit, you submit it along with your passport, photographs, and medical certificate to the UAE Embassy in Dhaka (or VFS Global, which processes UAE visa applications on behalf of the embassy). Your passport is stamped with a visa, and you have 60 days to enter the UAE from the date of issue.

When you arrive in the UAE, your employer arranges the remaining steps. You will undergo a medical fitness test at a MOHRE-approved medical centre — this tests for tuberculosis, HIV, hepatitis, and other conditions. You then provide biometric data (fingerprints and photograph) at an Amer centre or Emirates ID Authority office. Your Emirates ID is typically ready within 5–10 business days, and your residency stamp is placed in your passport completing the process.

Documents Required for UAE Employment Visa

Preparation is everything when it comes to UAE visa applications. Missing even one document can delay your visa by weeks. Here is what you need at each stage.

Before leaving Bangladesh, you need a valid passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity and at least 2 blank pages. Your employment entry permit from the UAE employer is essential — without this, no embassy will process your visa. A passport-size photograph with a white background is required (UAE does not accept coloured backgrounds). You need a medical fitness certificate from a UAE-approved medical centre in Bangladesh.

Your educational and professional certificates may be required depending on your job category. Skilled positions — engineers, nurses, IT professionals, accountants — typically require attested certificates. Attestation means getting your certificates verified by the Bangladesh government (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and then by the UAE Embassy. This process takes 2–4 weeks, so start early.

UAE Visa Fees and What Your Employer Should Pay

One of the most important things to understand about UAE employment visas is who pays for what. Under MOHRE regulations, your employer is responsible for the cost of your employment entry permit, your medical test in the UAE, your Emirates ID, and your residency visa stamp. These are employer obligations, not optional extras.

In practice, some employers in lower-wage sectors try to deduct these costs from your salary. This is illegal. If your employer deducts visa-related costs from your wages, you can file a complaint with MOHRE through their hotline (80060) or through the MOHRE app. The entry permit fee is approximately AED 300–600. The UAE medical test costs AED 250–350. The Emirates ID costs AED 100–370 depending on validity period.

The only cost you are expected to bear yourself is the visa application fee at the UAE Embassy in Bangladesh, which is approximately BDT 10,000–15,000, and the medical fitness test in Bangladesh, which costs BDT 3,000–5,000.

New UAE Labour Law 2022 — What Changed for Workers

The UAE revised its federal labour law in February 2022 (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021), introducing significant changes that benefit workers. The most important change for Bangladeshis is the removal of the mandatory 6-month cooling period between jobs. Previously, if you left one employer, you had to wait 6 months before working for another in the UAE. Now, under most conditions, you can transfer to a new employer immediately if you complete your probation period.

Other significant changes include: fixed-term contracts of maximum 3 years (renewable), 30 days of paid annual leave, full end-of-service gratuity regardless of whether you resigned or were terminated (previously you got reduced gratuity if you resigned before 5 years), and protection against arbitrary dismissal. The system has real teeth now.

If Something Goes Wrong in the UAE

Problems happen — unpaid wages, employer abuse, accommodation issues, sudden job loss. Here is what you do. For labour disputes (unpaid salary, contract violations, wrongful termination), contact MOHRE at 80060 or through their website. For serious criminal matters or emergencies, call 999 (UAE emergency number). The Bangladesh Embassy in Abu Dhabi (+971-2-443-4275) and the Bangladesh Consulate in Dubai (+971-4-220-7100) are your primary contacts for passport issues, emergencies, or if you need repatriation assistance.

Never stay in the UAE after your visa or Iqama expires. Overstay fines are AED 50 per day, and the maximum total fine can reach AED 3,605. More importantly, overstaying becomes a permanent mark on your immigration record that can prevent you from returning to the UAE in the future.
